Western Wedding Flowers

By Jennifer Baumann

If you cowboys want to rope up some flora with a Western flair, check out all the info on wedding flowers even the doggies would love.

Spider Lilies

Fleshy herbs that grow along stream beds and ditches all over Texas, these exotic-looking Western flowers with their pointy, spidery blooms would make great additions to centerpieces or bouquets.

Zinnia

Blooming in the Southwest, Mexico, and Central America from early summer well into fall, these thick and tight blooms come in a million colors and are even multicolored. Bouyant and bouncy-looking, centerpieces are a perfect place to show off these Southwestern delights.

All Sorts of Blossoms

There is a lot of Southwestern art dedicated to blossoming fruit and nut trees, so check out using these delicate flowers for your hair or other decorations. Apple blossoms are pink and white and fragile. Rio Oso Peach Blossoms are peach and white, and have the same delicate blooms. While beautiful and certainly romantic, ask your florist about the availability of fruit blossoms, and how long they will hold up if used as decoration.

Paper Flowers

For a Western or Southwestern wedding with South-of-the-Border accents, why not use paper flowers? These Mexican delights decorate festivals and celebrations down South and would look stylishly beautiful at a Western Wedding. Available in different shapes, sizes, and tons of bright colors, paper flowers are a unique alternative to using fresh flowers.
